Maintenance of Certoclav EL and MultiControl
We recommend that your appliance is checked at your retailer or the manufacturer every two years.
Maintenance should only be carried out using original spare parts. Overhauls may only be carried out by the manufacturer or by a retailer or workshop with specific authorisation.
| External cleaning: | Wipe the cover and the chamber inside and outside with a moist cloth and then polish dry. Never submerge base in water. |
|---|---|
| Descaling: | Discolouration and calcification can occur if tap water is used. The control accuracy decreases as the lime layer thickness increases. Furthermore, the venting nozzles can become clogged. Clean the clogged ventilating nozzle from the inside of the cover using the cleaning pin. If calcification is heavy, carry out a complete cycle using 1 L of table vinegar to de-scale. After this, rinse the device with water and carry out one cycle using distilled water (without loading). Always work with distilled water and not with de-mineralised water. If only de-mineralised water is available, it should be mixed with 1/3 tap water. |
| Preventing corrosion damage: | Aggressive media (e.g. saline solutions) cause corrosion damage. Only heat up such media in enclosed containers, but never under any circumstances in tightly closed glass vessels. There is a breakage hazard since pressure equalisation cannot take place! |
| Wearing parts: | If the cover gasket should leak and steam discharges from between the cover and the chamber, the gasket has either been incorrectly placed or is defective. It must then be replaced. Long-term cycles increase the wear so that the gasket may need to be replaced after only six months. |
| Replacing the cover gasket: | Oil the groove and the gasket with edible oil. Then press the gasket with the ribbed side facing inwards into the groove bit by bit. You should slightly compress the gasket, not pull it, otherwise it will become too long. Compression also causes better sealing and makes insertion easier. |
